Kubu's special appearance embellishes every corner of your home. The oval shape and the braided pattern of cotton cords called "Kawung" in Indonesian make it so unique.
Kubu is made from banana fiber and is available in three sizes. M and L are ideal for laundry or blankets, for example, while S is especially suitable as a plant basket or storage place for small items such as toys.

Main material: banana fiber
Banana fibers are the fibers from the layered trunks of banana trees used in agriculture. The intense brown color occurs naturally when the fibers are dried in the sun for about a week. The individual strips are then rolled into the characteristic, approximately 6 mm thick strands. Only old, dying banana trees are used for this material. This gives these crops a second life as a dimensionally stable and robust raw material for many handmade baskets here at Soeji.

This basket is handmade in Java, Indonesia.
When selecting our local producers, we attach great importance to fair pay and good working conditions. In the factories where we buy our goods, we only work with mature and experienced craftsmen. No harmful chemicals are used in the production process. Because all work steps are done by hand, the production process hardly generates any greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all this through regular site visits and permanent personal contact with the companies.
